Keep your dog out of the road.  No really.  I know she just keeps escaping under that one spot in the fence.  I know she likes to dig.  Go to Home Depot (or equilivant) right now and get chicken wire or cement or a chain or what ever it bloody well takes to keep your dog on the inside of the fence or on the end of the leash.  I dont want to see you in my office with your dead dog in your arms and tears streaming down your face asking me 'why?'  Its horrible...its awful... I do not have words to describe the extent of my sympathy for your horrendous loss.  Tears are streaming down my face as well.  My staff is also crying as they hold your hand and rub  your back while you sob.  But if you want to know why... its because the dog wasnt in your yard where it belonged.  You can fix this.  Please do so.  Please help me prevent this tragedy from happening to your loved one.

dammit... erased the blog... dont like that the new blog button is so close to the publish button... to sum up... im getting better with the camera... ive taken 1174 photos since last thursday... kinda cool.  Im trying to take at least one photo a day for a year...should be interesting...maybe ill make one of those self published books when im done.  I biked to work again today.  I cheated tho..i put the bike on the bugs roof rack and drove over the bridge...then parked in a lil park over there and biked from there.  I didnt feel like dealing with monday morning bridge traffic.  It works out to be 5 miles on the nose each way if I do it that way.  Takes about 30 minutes... decent workout and i dont feel like im gonna die at the end of it.  Thats whats going on here.

Went bird watcing today at the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.  Got 7 new species for my life list.  Pretty cool.  Dont think Ive had a day like that since i started bird watching.  Also took about 100 pictures.  Got about 3 that i actually like.  The wonders of digital.  At least I didnt have to pay for the other 97 shots.

I did it... i biked to work.  9.1 miles there and 8.1 miles home (different route).  It took about 55 min in the am and 45 min in the pm... all in all not too bad.  The bridge sucked tho... mostly because im out of shape and wimpy.

I broke down today and bought the new camera I have been eyeing for a few months.  A friend convinced me to join Flickr (see link on left side) a little while ago and it re-awakened my love of photography. However the last time I was really into the hobby was back in high school using an old film SLR camera and shooting mostly black and white.  I started doing some research and decided that I wanted the options of a SLR again.  Digital has done amazing things for this field and I knew I wanted to be able to take advantage of many of the advances.  So after much reading and waffling, and more research, and more flip flopping, I finally decided on the Canon Digital Rebel XSi with 12.2 megapixals.  its pretty kick ass.  It also ought to keep me plenty busy for quite a few years before i decide I need to upgrade again.  I pulled it out of the box at about 4:30pm today and by 5:30 had shot about 150 pictures.  Did I mention that i love digital?  Now most of those pictures are crap, and just test shots to play with the various features.  But i will state that after getting used to the shutter delay and inability to shoot moving objects of the point and shoots... this thing is frickin amazing.  So keep an eye on the Flickr account for new stuff... it may be a while before I figure out how to use it well enough to start turning out nice stuff but Im seriously excited.

I went to the Melbourne Art Fair today and stared at all the lovely stuff that was way too expensive for my budget.  But I got to look at lots of really great photography so it was worth it.  Makes me wanna quit my job (after striking the lottery) and run off and take pictures of the world.  Oh well... not real likely to happen.  But on the upside I already live in a pretty awsome area for nature photography so I really cant complain.  Lots and lots of amazing wildlife and nature shots lie not too far outside my front door.   Some days i really miss the creative/ art hobbies I once had.  Other days I realize I could still be doing a lot of them but I would have to give up something Im currently doing.  i need more freetime in my free time.  Too bad they wont pay me to be a photography bum.

well i should go do something more productive than playing on the computer....

2 miles...again... without stopping... only started feeling like i was gonna die about 2/3's of the way thru instead of the whole way... i guess thats improvement?

all critters are doing well... life is good

am considering trying to start biking to work... not sure if its smart or stupid... but gas is crazy and the health benefits (and environmental benefits) are huge...  it would be about 5-6 miles one way... not crazy... i have a mountian bike (new) instead of a road bike... the only potentially scary part of the ride would be crossing the causway.. there's no real bike path or sidewalk across it.  I see people crossing it all the time on bikes.. but bill thinks im crazy to consider it.  There is a small park right across the causway.. i could potentially load my bike up on the rack on the car in the morning... drive the mile from my house to the park...unload the bike and leave the car at the park for the day... but that seems needlessly complicated.  i think im gonna get ballsy and try the ride on saturday morning or something... see how it goes.  I think i need to get one of those refelctive vests...

so i did it... i finally finished my two mile run without stopping once.  Im not sure it really technically qualifies as a 'run' since im pretty sure most people could walk faster than i was running... but what the hell... i did it... i ran.  i think i may croak now... but in theory that part gets better... cause all those people that go running just to run all the time really cant be feeling this crappy afterward or they would just 'run' to the nearest bar and get a drink.  well i think im gonna go sit still for a while... and try to remember how to breathe
